Our stretchy pooch in his second adventure, this time in Meat Land!
Hey Nitromians,
Todays pixelove is Serious Dave by developers 08--n7.r6-79.84 and Stranger087 (I know, catchy names huh!)
The story goes like this. Hell Bunny has kidnapped all of the innocent babies and is using them to open up an evil portal.
Its Your task, a bearded guy called Dave to save the day.
Serious Dave is an Endless runner with a difference. The difference being the sheer amount of depth and additional content outside of the usual 'reach as far as you can'.
Varied Quests and challenges, Achievements, Unlockable content, Upgrades, Cut-scenes and even levels that add objectives the second and third time around.
There is a lot to love here and if you're a fan of retro pixelart and chip tunes then you'll have a blast with this.
Happy gaming.
Hey Nitromians,
We have been hard at work on our upcoming turn based Roguelike RustBucket. We are really excited about this one and have been adding a whole bunch of new themes, baddies and traps (which we'll be showing some off later).
We are keeping lots of the game features under wraps, but for now we wanted to show off this neat little new feature.
In the game you can rescue villagers that litter the dungeon environments. However being the hero of the game, you can help out your fellow human by using your handy Fulton technique to whisk them out of harm’s way. (MetalGear style)
As a reward for saving them from slaughter you are rewarded with a shiny gold coin.
Further down the line you will experience other types of villagers. Some of the younger more agile ones which make their own attempt to escape in the usual turn-based fashion.
RustBucket to the rescue!
Enjoy the Gif and please Retweet on twitter if you can and help spread the word.
Happy gaming. :)
Hey Nitromians,
WAHOO! We have just released a brand new update to our super popular Magic Touch!
This update brings you two brand new modes INSANE and ZEN! Both bringing separate spellbinding challenges.
Insane mode is exactly what it says on the tin. SUPER HARD and LOTS of fun. With some brand new shapes to master, the speed cranked up to 11 and purple knights and the king are more EVIL than ever. Perfect for short bursts of play and people who like a challenge and to brag about there impressively low high scores.
Zen mode is built for those who just want to play the game without any of the added distractions. Gone are the purple knights and collectable spells slots that take way to much brainpower. Start off at a reasonable pace without any of the boring build-up, throwing you into the action straight away and keeping the pace until your arm softly drifts off to sleep! AHEM... and then falls off.
If you’re up for the challenge try and beat 34 on Insane mode, my PB so far!
Let us know what you think of our new update in the comments below. And leave us a nice review or rating on your chosen store if you want to help us out and make us feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
We really do listen so any feedback or ideas for cool new updates are noted.
Happy gaming everyone.
Hi Nitromians,
so as a final post for the week I thought I would share a bit of promo art we created recently for the game. The game itself is getting close to complete now so we should be ready to submit to the stores pretty soon. We will have more news to share about the game between submitting and release.
Have a great weekend everyone! Right now back to the game!
With Jon on holiday and a busy week finishing off things for Beneath the Lighthouse I totally forgot it was my responcibility to make sure we had a Pixel Love game launched! Doh! Ohe well better late than never!
Today/Mondays pixel love is/was supposed to be 'Tap Heros'. TBH I have no idea what it is about as Jon picked it before he left for holiday. I'm sure it's very good though so do click the link and give it a play!
It is by a studio called Varagtp so props to them if you like it!
Enjoy!
As part of Apples Gorgeous games promotion our game Icebreaker: A Viking Voyage is on SALE! It is 79p in the UK and whatever is the bottom price in other territorys too. If you havn't picked it up yet this is probably your best chance to get it cheap so go quick and get it now!
Hi Nitromians,
we have a brand new game in the works called Rust Bucket...Yay! But first some bad news...
The game we were working on called Plod is no more…Booo! What happened? Some projects just don’t turn out as fun as you expect them to be and that was the case with plod. It was fun to move around but though we kept trying we could not make very many things that were fun as a challenge to move past.
The upside of this is that we started a new project which is a refresh of our old icon game Turnament! It’s a game that we really wanted to go back to and flesh out much as we did with Gunbrick. The Plod game even helped us in making this as it was at the same viewpoint with the same depth sorting issues so a lot of that engine went into this one!
You may notice that the game is not called Turnament!? We did toy with Turnament SD but a big problem with the name is that it was terrible for search as it was hard to spell. So we decided to name the game after the main character and we have decided his name is Rust Bucket.
We are very excited about ‘Rust Bucket’ it is already at a fairly advanced state with much more graphics and elements than are shown in the gif above. Aaron that is programming the game has made many similar games before including the original Turnament, Turn Undead, Sleepless Pug and his own personal game Ending so he is very well versed in this sort of game and were hoping to make this the best one yet!
We will have more on the game as it develops.
Hey nitromians,
Today's Pixelove game is called A Stroll in Space!
by Big Dino games.
http://www.pixellovegames.com/games/dthfdrh/
In it you play as a cute lil astro dude/dudette who is rudely awoken by a HUGE space squid... sounds like our type of game already!
You explore the space station avoiding its many hazards and space nasties until you unlock 'the monkey' (yes that's right, I said monkey!). After which you will have use of the awe defying red button which does some rather neat things to gravity.
This game has lots of lovely touches (especially the mid-ground and foreground animations). It fits in with the types of browser games we love to look at and play. So much so infact that you might even be mistaken at first glance that its one of our very own.
What do you guys think of A Stroll in Space?
Happy gaming.
Hi Nitromians,
we have been making and publishing it’s own titles on the App Stores now with increasing success and we have now decided to branch out and develop a publishing program!
The first title under Nitromes publishing wing will be 'Ultimate Briefcase'. It is being developed by a very talented developer named Stefan Åhlin and his new studio ‘Quite Fresh’. Stefan actually worked at Nitrome in the past on many of our hit web games before leaving to pursue other things. We remained in contact since then and were thrilled to see us be able to team up again!
In 'Ultimate Briefcase' your tasked with surviving an onslaught of bombs with nothing to protect you but your trusty briefcase. There are many bomb types and power ups for you to discover in the game. You collect currency along the way which can be used to unlock new characters and level up the briefcase and those characters special items. During the game you will also be able to unlock new areas each with its own distinctive gameplay quirks. Ultimate Briefcase will be coming to iOS and Android devices soon!
The Nitrome publishing program is different from other Publishing programs in that we seek to focus around the developers themselves rather than individual titles. For us it’s about finding the right people than cherry picking each game and working with those people to bring multiple titles to the App stores. Our hope is to enable developers to spend more time creating great content and less time on worrying who they might find to publish their next game.
We will work with developers from early in the process to ensure that their future titles will be something we are happy to publish and that they will be profitable enough for the developer that they can continue to make more great games. Nitrome published games will remain to be pixel art based, focused around a core query idea and funded by monetization models that fit our moral compass.
Any talented indies interested in a potential partnership feel free to contact us at publishing@nitrome.com.
For those that are currious as to what this means for our in house developed content....not much. We intend to keep producing the same ammount of content in house as we were before and in fact are expanding the team to be able to produce more content in the future.
For those of you wondering if the published games will appear on the website: Were considering this on a game by game basis. Primarally we are offering publishing based on mobile however we are open to the game appearing on the website aswell if the game is made in a technology that is compatable and if the developer wishes to pursue that. Currently there are no plans for Unltimate Briefcase to come to the website as the focus is on getting the game onto iOS and Android. It is possible however and if the developer shows an interest this may change.
Hey nitromians,
Todays pixelove is Birdy fruit by the talented pixelpushing team Fliptic.
http://www.pixellovegames.com/games/birdyfruit/
It's a relatively simple concept in which you must flap your avian friends wings to guide him to safety. The catch is that you only have control of the altitude but not the direction making the game a whole lot trickier. oh yeah and theres a whole buch of traps, enemies and fruit in there too!
If anybody's got a cool game recommendation for a future Pixelove feature then please shout it out in the comments below. (preferably a Flash based pixelart based game)
Happy gaming ;)
