Today we want to talk about some advert changes that we have made. You may have noticed over the last couple of years that we experimented a lot with ads? Let's be honest here... you may have noticed about us experimenting in adding more ads to the site?
Firstly we would like to assure you that it was not lead by greed... we only put ads on the site to fund making the games you love to play. In recent years this has been much more of a struggle as both a lot of browser gamers and ad networks have shifted focus to mobile games. The lowest point for us in this is when we reluctantly turned on pop under ads... something we swore we never wanted to do!
You hopefully noticed that the pop under ads are no longer there? We switched them off a few days before the launch of Icebreaker: A Viking Voyage with the hope that it would lead to enough new revenue that we could keep them off. We are happy to say that so far, this has been the case!
So this we hope was the turning point to a better ad experience in the future on Nitrome.com. Today we have launched our next ad based improvement which was made to the preroll ads that show up before the games play. Now don't get too excited, they are still there. We like to think however that they are now a lot slicker and less intrusive. There should be less loading errors with this new system, there are more skippable ads and should now all pull in at the correct size within a new container that better lets the player know what's going on.
We don’t expect us having a new ad system to be something that you all want to celebrate but we hope you approve of the new system and agree that it works better and more slickly than the old one. We will continue to improve the quality of the ad experience where we can. Let us know what you think below!

We think that the detail and effort that has gone into this has really paid off, we especially like the colour choices!

Sorry about the false start we had last week, we tried our best to deliver but there was an overwhelming amount of issues!
We'll be keeping an eye on the system for any bugs that arise and will be adjusting things accordingly as we go. We want to make this the best experience that we can!

Well today is a big day... no not because it’s Halloween, however we do have a treat for you! We’ve been working hard in our humble Nitrome office and are proud to announce…
NITROME TOUCHY IS NOW LIVE! Oh yeah!
We have 10 games that can be played through your browser with the Nitrome Touchy app. Just download the app from the iTunes App Store and try it out on Super Snotput. You can then upgrade the app through one in-app-purchase to unlock all the other games that are available. We are also working on releasing more Touchy compatible games, there will be 20 more coming out within the next 6 months.
For all you Android lovers out there, an android version will be coming soon. (We’re working on it as we speak, and will keep you updated).

Wow… we’re super busy here at Nitrome towers! Lots going on at the moment… we thought now would be a good time to give you more details on the Nitrome Touchy app. You may have read the teaser blog we posted previously, well today is another red letter day in the development of this brand new venture.
We have launched a new section to our website dedicated to Nitrome Touchy. This gives you more information about this up and coming release. So if you fancy it, check it out.
As always we will be releasing more information regarding the development and games over the coming days. There is an FAQ section on the home page but if you have any questions please feel free to ask away in the comments section and we will answer them as quickly as we can.

Today we have some exciting development news!
Here at the Nitrome HQ, we have been developing something completely different. We have been working with the developers Brass Monkey and are proud to announce that through this partnership we will soon be offering a new app - “Nitrome Touchy”
Nitrome Touchy is powered by Brass Monkey’s technology, who have been working closely with Nitrome to produce the app. The Nitrome team have been working tirelessly on developing some of our favourite games to support this exciting technology.
Nitrome Touchy is a wireless controller solution that opens up a whole new world of opportunities for our browser based games. By using your smart phone or iDevice you can take advantage of the built in motion control and the touch screen interface. This technology also allows us local multiplayer opportunities that we could never achieve within the confines of a normal keyboard. See our Double Edged trailer for a taste of this.
The app will be available for iPhone / iPad / iPod Touch devices and shortly afterwards for android mobile devices.
We will be announcing more details soon about the initial 10 launch games. This will be followed by a further 20 games that will be available within the first 6 months of launch.
